The selection of face and chamfer abrasives and polishes must be made according to the type of material to be processed and the desired gloss level. While magnesite abrasives can give satisfactory and economical results in light colored stones, it is more appropriate to use polyester abrasives in cases where higher quality is demanded and when processing dark colored stones. Marble butt chamfer abrasives may not provide the desired shine when processing granite. In such cases, it would be correct to use elica-type polyester abrasives developed especially for polishing granite.
